Description: 


Day 1. (Monday) CANCUN - EK BALAM - CENOTE - CHICHÉN ITZÁ - MÉRIDA (L)

Departure in the morning to the magnificent archaeological site of Ek Balam, protected by two walled rings and its magnificent Mayan Arch, which gives us access to the central religious area where the elite resided, we will also find: the observatory, the ball game, but especially its great acropolis and the imposing tomb of its ruler which is 22 meters high by 55 meters wide decorated with exquisite carvings covered with plaster, representing tetramorphic masks.  At the end of our visit, we will visit a Cenote, a natural wonder considered a sacred place and a vital source for the development of the Mayan Civilization.  Here we will have time for a refreshing swim. Later we will go to the colonial city of Valladolid, second city founded in Yucatan with a brief visit to continue to Chichen Itza. 


Arrival to Chichén Itzá where we will explore one of the archaeological sites inscribed on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.  We will visit: the Temple of Kukulcan, recognized as one of the new seven wonders of the modern world.


We will tour the central settlement, the sacred cenote, the ball game and the observatory, we will continue our tour to Merida, capital of the State of Yucatan also called the "White City".  Here we will have a tour of:  Paseo de Montejo, monument to the Homeland, the Main Square with the Cathedral and the Government Palaces.


Overnight in Merida.

Day 2. (Tuesday) MERIDA - UXMAL - MERIDA (B)

Breakfast. Departure from the hotel. We will visit the archaeological site of Uxmal: One of the great capitals of the city-states of the classic period with its exquisite "Puuc" style architecture with very detailed sculptures made with thousands of small stones perfectly polished and adjusted forming geometric mosaics of a perfection unmatched in the entire Mayan world.  This speaks of the high development that this place had achieving beautiful buildings such as:  The Governor's Palace, The Nun's Quadrangle, The House of the Turtles, The Ball Game, The Quadrangle of the Birds, The Temple of the Soothsayer. Departure to the walled city of Campeche, famous for its attacks in times of piracy. Overnight in Campeche.

 

Day 3. (Wednesday ) CAMPECHE - PALENQUE (B)

Breakfast in the morning and visit of the city of Campeche, named World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Guided tour through the main attractions of the city: colonial mansions, fortresses, museums, etc. We will see the walled city with its square, the fortress and traditional neighborhoods, visit the Fort of San Miguel, San Jose, Cathedral, Independence Square, Bastion of San Carlos, Puerta de Tierra, Church of San Roman, etc. ending the tour we will go to Palenque. Overnight in Palenque.


Day 4. (Thursday) PALENQUE (B)

Breakfast. Departure to another of the main capitals of the Mayan World, the archaeological zone of Palenque, which stands out for the sophistication of its art, its architecture and its cultural testimony, for such characteristics it was inscribed on the list of cultural heritage of humanity in 1987. 


Here we will enjoy its natural beauty, surrounded by the majestic and dense Chiapas jungle. We will visit the famous Pyramid of the Inscriptions where the sarcophagus of King Pakal was found, with a tombstone engraved in relief. Temple of the Foliated Cross, Temple of the Sun and the Palace, etc. Overnight in Palenque.


Day 5 (FRI). PALENQUE - CALAKMUL - XPUJIL (B L)


Early in the morning we will have our Box Lunch; to head towards the Calakmul Biosphere Reserve, declared a Natural World Heritage Site by the UN & together with the Great Archaeological Zone of Calakmul was named Mixed Cultural Heritage of Humanity in Mexico.



Part of our experience on the way to Calakmul Archaeological Zone will be the observation of Wildlife in freedom, Birds, Reptiles & Monkeys are present in this place. Our expert guide will explain the sounds and observe the rich flora and fauna. This Biosphere contributes to the planet four percent of the total oxygen of the planet, being the second largest after the Amazon.


 

The Mayan city of Calakmul was discovered in 1931, rivaled in its time with cities like Tikal, El Mirador and Palenque. It reached its maximum splendor in 600 A.D. surpassing Tikal in size, dominating the entire Petenero territory; as we can see in the more than 600 structures and stelae erected, with a refinement in its architecture, which gave it prestige and fame throughout the Mayan world. Day 6. (SAB). CHICANNA - KOHUNLICH - CHETUMAL (B)


Breakfast. Departure from the hotel at 7:30 a.m. We will continue on our way and visit the archaeological site of Kohunlich, which will be of great didactic interest due to the enormous variety of buildings that are preserved within the area. It has become, at the same time, a refuge for an important number of birds, reptiles and mammals that have found protection within the limits of the site. Then we will continue our way to Bacalar where we will see the panoramic view of the forts of San Felipe built in 1725, which was developed as a fort for defenses and preservation, before the constant attacks and onslaughts of the English.


 

Then, we begin our tour by boat through the lagoon of the 7 colors, these colors are observed by the slight swell & presence of minerals and small crystals that generate a fascinating spectacle in the water with the difference in depths and the variation in the intensity of the sun's rays makes its waters reflect 7 varieties of blue.



Part of our activities will be: Swimming, the Mayan Bath, Visit the Cenotes inside the Lagoon & Meet the stromatolites: living rock formations considered the oldest type of life on the Planet, Their study has not been easy as there are very few in the world. Lodging in Chetumal.


 

Day 7. (FRIE). CHETUMAL - TULUM -CENOTE - DROP OFF: CANCUN OR RIVIERA MAYA


Breakfast. Departure from the hotel at 8:00 am, we continue our trip towards the north of the state, we will visit the archaeological site of Tulum, which is considered by many as the most beautiful. The ruins of Tulum have one of the most beautiful beaches of the Riviera Maya. Tulum's greatest attraction is the combination of the imposing ruins with the amazing hues of the Caribbean Sea. Tulum in Mayan means "wall" since it is a walled city, one of the very few ancient cities with this characteristic. We close this experience by refreshing ourselves in the waters of a Cenote in the Riviera Maya, free time for lunch. Transfer to your hotel in Cancun or Riviera Maya.
